Another use for TP Rolls

Hey everyone!!! No, I haven't forgotten about you all it has just been a crazy week. Including a flooded out car and a hole in the ceiling in my daughters room.

I found this awesome idea while blog surfing. Making flowers from empty toilet paper rolls. They are so simple to make and are great for embellishing gift bags and boxes. I found the idea on paper jewels http://paperjewels.blogspot.com/2009/04/more-fun-with-toiltet-tissue-tubes.html.

She also had a great idea for making a bind-it-all sour cream treat holder out of the rolls also. I haven't tried that one yet, but I think I will make one and fill it with treats for my daughters teacher next week (teachers appreciation week).

I did the tp roll flower, it was so simple and only took a matter of minutes once I decided on which paper to use.

Here is the flower that I made:

I promise it won't be so long before I post another project this time. I have no plans tomorrow except to get the ceiling fixed, so I am going to get creative!!
Have an awesome week and don't forget about the teachers :)

Mini Shopping Bag

I hope everyone had a great Easter weekend!! We had a great time here, even fit in a trip to the beach.

I have some cute little bags here to show you. This is one of those projects that have been sitting around in my stash for a while. My mom showed me how to do these a couple years ago. I finally disected it and did a sketch for it. I am also going to post this for a challenge in one of my cafe mom groups this month. I just love little bags, they are great for giving small treats.

This is so simple, not one cut is involved with making this bag. Well, unless you don't have an 8x8 peice of paper.

Here is the sketch. Score on all the lines. The angled lines begin one inch from the top of the paper.
Turn the paper with the front down and fold all straight score lines towards you. Look at the below picture on how to crease the angled score marks.

After all scoring, place tape on the upper corners as shown below.

Fold over and adhere to center section.

Place another piece of adhesive above the crease that is at the bottom of the angled score line. That sounds confusing, hey!! Oh well, that's why I take pictures :)

Fold up angled crease again and adhere. Maybe I should just say look at the picture.

This is how it should look now. Repeat with opposite corner. Then turn and repeat with the other two corners.

This is how your bag should look when you are done:
Punch holes to add a handle, embellish and waalaa (is that how you spell it?) your done!!!
Now, time to get back to scrapping!! Getting behind again or should I say "even more behind". I think I will share some of those with you next time.

Candy Bar Gift Box

Hello everyone!! I actually was planning a different project to post here, but the candy bar holder was requested. A friend of mine wanted to make them for Easter treats, so I thought I would help her out. I know the regular size Hershey bars fit in this holder, I haven't tried any other candy bars yet. I can't show you the one with the candy bar, because it seems to have disappeared. Hmm, probably one of the kids!! I am sure if I asked I would just get five crazy looks and not one of them would admit it.
I decided not to use an Easter theme because I did in the last two projects. This stamp is from the Marvelous_Mottos stamp set. This set is really cute!!!
Here is the diagram for your paper. Score all the lines and then cut on the red lines. I am still learning how to do these. Right now I just use MS Word and then save it as a Jpeg in Paint. Next time I am going to remember to make the text bigger. The size of the paper is 5 1/2 x 6 1/2.

This is how your paper should look after cutting and scoring.

Turn your paper over and put adhesive on the two bottom corners and the tabs above them.
Fold up the small tabs first and then the corners.

That's really all there is to it. I added a little liner inside and a piece of ribbon to tuck the flap under.

Enjoy!!

Money, Money, Money!!!

Hope you didn't get too excited, I'm not giving away any money here!! However, I do have great money card for you if you want to give some away. It is made with a business size or a long envelope. I have been practicing with my watercoloring again, I finally bought myself a new set of watercolor pencils. I am really liking the effect vs just solid coloring. I bought a pad of watercolor paper from walmart in their art isle in their craft section - definitely cheaper that the scrapbook store. The watercolor turns out so much better on this paper also.

Here is the front of the card:

The envelope is folded in half to make the card. It is mounted to a piece of carstock for stability.

Here is the inside, just open the envelope to insert the ribbon.

Before mounting the envelope I opened the flap and punched a hole in it for the ribbon.
Lay a piece of ribbon across the cardstock you are mounting the envelope onAs you are adhering the envelope to the paper put the ribbon through the hole on the back of the envelope.
Open the envelope and put the ribbon through the other hole so it comes out the front.

Fold the ribbon across the front of the envelope and add another smaller piece of cardstock. Then stamp or embellish as desired.

Enjoy!!!

In love with "Hemmingway"

I have a new love!! I recently started using this paper and am wondering why the heck it took me so long, when it has been "sleeping" in my stash.

Hemmingway is my ultimate favorite paper from The Angel Company's Soar With It collection. Isn't he handsome? It is one of those papers you just want to save because you like it so much, but in order to really appreciate it you have to use it.
.

I just made this card for one of my CM sketch challenges. I had the stamps picked out that I wanted to use (A wittle bug), and went through all my papers, with the mindset I needed to have bright and colorful. Then I saw the harmony of sandy beige, mellow brown and turquoise mist, "Hemminway" and new that all the others didn't matter anymore. Is that love or what?

Here is another card I did with this paper that I also posted a few weeks ago, just thought I would share it again. I will have to order more now, so I can do some scrapbook pages.
