Spring Break is over!!!!

Yeah, the kids went back to school this week and hubby back to work and I actually had time to do something. I have been wanting to try this card for a couple of weeks, but have been so busy. I saw it on another Angels website, but don't recall which one it was.

I used:

White Cardstock 4 1/4 x6

Yellow and blue Cardstock 3 1/4 x4 1/4

stamped image matted onto green

foam mounting squares

1 brad

I used a decorative scissors to make an edge on one of the long sides of the blue paper.

Apply adhesive to the back of the blue paper leaving 1/4 inch at the scalloped edge with no adhesive.

Adhere the blue piece to the lower half of the white cardstock.

Lay the yellow peice on the upper half of the card sliding it slightly behind the blue paper.

Attach the yellow peice with a brad along the left side of the card.

Turn card over and trim off any excess cardstock.

Apply foam mounting squares to the back of the stamped image - on the upper half only. Adhere upper half to yellow cardstock only.

Swivel the top of the card open and stamp a sentiment if you would like.
I just love simple cards like this. Only took like 15 minutes with taking the picture and everything.

February cards

We finally have rain here!!! Yay!!! Normally I wouldn't be cheering for three days of rain, but we haven't had any measurable rainfall since before Thanksgiving. So I will cheer this time. By Saturday I would like to put in my request for sunshine so I can go and see the wildflowers.

Here are my cards I entered in the February challenges. The voting is not done yet, but what the heck! I am posting them anyways. Also, if you scroll down to the bottom you can view current specials from The Angel Company.

This was my favorite of all the cards, I just love this paper. The patterned paper is from the Hemingway soar with it collection. The cute chair and stamps are from the EverydayEvents stamp set. This was my first time using water color pencils, I just love them.

"Swoosh there it is!!!", these stamps are from the NothinButNet stamp set. Talk about an easy card to make, not a thing to color. I used foam tape on the squares and inked the edges to give them some height. Patterned and cardstock are from the Winchester SWIC.

This card uses paper from the Penelope SWIC. I used the outer part of the "U" from the ABC frameworks. I covered it with paper, sanded the edges and embellished with some scrappers floss. I used a pop dot on the circle and stamped with "Love" from the forever stamp set.

Since I had so much fun with the watercolors on the first card, I decided to try it again. I used papers from the gentle beginnings designer collection. The stamps are also from the same stamp set EverydayEvents, this stamp set is great because it covers so many occasions.

You gotta love the colors of the Genevieve papers. It stands out great on a black background, inking the edges makes it stand out even more. I added a sentiment from the TrendyGreetings stamps set. A very simple card.

Last but not least. This card is made with one of my favorite retired stamp sets. Isn't the dog so cute?

Mini Easter Baskets

I hope you all are having a great start to your weekend!! I am enjoying mine so far.
These little Easter baskets are so easy to make and OH SO CUTE!!!

You will need a 6x6 inch piece of paper or cardstock. Score it at 2 and 4 inches, turn and score again at 2 and 4 inches. You will end up with a 3x3 grid of squares. You are going to make two cuts one each side of the paper along the two score lines stopping at the center square. Your paper will look like the picture below.

Fold up the two bottom corners as shown below until they meet at the top. Secure with adhesive to square behind. Repeat with the other side.

Punch holes and add a handle. I used a 1/2 inch by 8 inch patterned paper for my handle. I was going to use brads to attach the handle, but found these cute little bunny brads in my stash.

HOW CUTE IS THAT!! All you have to do is fill with easter grass and candy or a gift card.

Make sure you scroll on down to view this months specials from THE ANGEL COMPANY

Notepad Closure/Pen Holder

I promised you all instructions for a closure and pen holder for the Folder Notepad I posted last week. Of course I didn't think of it until I was finished with the first one, so I made another notepad out of the other half of my folder and added the closure/pen holder to it.

What you will need is two large eyelets and one hair band, the covered ones. I bought the ones that were about 1 inch in diameter, for the same project next time I will choose the really small ones because it was a little too long, but I still made it work!!

You are going to punch two holes for your eyelets. One on the front and the other on the back of the folder along the side that opens. Set the eyelet in the hole on the front.

Slip your rubberband through the back hole.
Hook the rubber band around the back of your eyelet.Push the eyelet through the hole and set it. This can be a bit difficult, just remember to push the eylet in as far as you can, it will not go through all the way because of the thickness of the rubberband, when you set the eyelet it will tighten. Walaah, your rubber band is secure. This view is from the inside of the folder where your notepad is attached.

Slide your rubberband through the front eyelet and slip your pen through the rubberband. The rubberband hold the pen and the pen holds your folder closed.

If you have a rubberband that was too long like mine, then just wrap it through the back eyelet like I did above (I actually wrapped mine twice) before putting through the front.
I am totally loving this noteholder because I am forever searching for a pen, now I won't have to.
This week I am working on the mini easter basket tutorial, I should be able to get that up here by the end of the week. I am totally in the spring mood because it is feeling like spring again here after a few days of cold. Can't wait until it sticks around for good.
